Karen's Cooking Report

Finally... I've waited for this day to come for a long time (months I should say). The day that I can make and eat one of my favorite food... Jap Curry... Honestly speaking, I can just eat this curry for breakfast, lunch and dinner =)

Introduction
It is a simple yet very popular dish among young children in Japan. Most children in Japan, when asked, "what is your favorite food?", most will answer "Curry Rice". In this post, we will exploring the methods in which Jap Curry can be made.

Materials
- Pot & Frying Pan
- Ladles
- Knives
- Chopping Board
- Onions
- Carrots
- Potatoes
- Beef (or any meat)
- Jap Curry blocks

Method
1. Peeling the skin of the vegetables (obviously...)
2. Cut them up into small cubes. The next step is to fry the ingredients
3. Stir fry onion until it is soft
4. Add carrot and potatoes that are diced
5. Let it stew on low heat for about 30-40min until ingredients are soft
6. Add the Jap Curry blocks and dissolved them (ensure that fire is off)
7. Heat it until it boils and constantly mix the base of the pot
8. Serve on plates

Discussion
The onions were put into the pot to be fried first to get the fragrant out of the onion. Carrots and potatoes were added later and fried to decrease the time for stewing the ingredients in later stage. Ingredients should be stirred at all times to prevent it from burning. H2O is added once the ingredients are cooked for stewing. Again, stir them regularly to prevent burn at the bottom of the pot.

While the vegetables are been stewed, the beef was prepared. In this cooking, we used a slice of beef steak. The beef was seasoned via salt and pepper and put onto the frying pan. The reason over not cutting the beef before it is fried is to trap all the juicy stuff in the meat and later can be transferred to the pot for stewing. The beef was cooked at medium rare and removed from the pan and sliced into cubes and added to the pot for stewing.

After stewing for about 15min, the curry blocks were cut into smaller blocks and added. This will facilitate the dissolving process of the blocks and reduce the time taken for cooking. The pot of ingredients were mixed to further facilitate the dissolving process. H2O was added to adjust the thickness of the curry to its optimum thickness.

Served on plate showed in Figure 1.

Conclusion
The cooking was a success and hunger of the participants were satisfied =)

白紙のページ - White Page -

For the sake of my friends that don't understand Japanese, I shall type some English in it...

A blank page. A white page that has nothing. We use these blank white papers in all sorts of way. Papers we see around us such as books and lecture notes all come from this blank piece of paper and texts, graphics and colors are added according to their purposes.

Yesterday morning, after committee meeting, I attended a "prayer" workshop organised by OCF UniSa. During the workshop, the speaker told us to take a few minutes and try listen to what God is trying you tell you now. So we took off to our "own space" and took a few minutes listening to God's callings.

A blank page. That's what I saw. At first I thought "huh? a blank page? why a blank page?". A while later the song "Potter's Hand" came into my mind.

Take me, mold me use me, fill me
I give my life to the Potter's hand
Call me, guide me, lead me, walk beside me
I give my life to the Potter's hand

God, like a potter, molds our life. At that moment in me, I felt like God, like a artist, drawing each stage of my life and that the reason being a blank page is that its a new beginning. He gave me opportunities to serve in OCF this year as a BS leader and now as a committee. Thinking that "So, God is gonna start drawing my new life" makes me feel excited but scared at the same time. BUT, if it is God's plan and his Will, I will follow his plans.

Uni is starting tmr and its time to switch my mind back to reality and live for God's glory~!!

Nature's Call

An Immunovirologist like me loves nature. So a bunch of nature lovers (i hope they are) and I took off to hills; Cleland Conservation Park & Mt Lofty to appreciate God's wonderful creations =)

Cleland Wildlife Conservation Park
The first stop of our exciting adventure. Getting there wasnt a problem (even thought my co-driver has no idea how to look at the map and located our position) as I've been running up and down the hills like my own backyard (>▽<)ノ. It was kinda sad that i couldn't speed as much as I do when I drive alone or the two "girls" in my car will start screaming and strangling my neck and that can cause serious problems (^^;).

Hahndorf

Figure 1: Black S2000 parked outside Hahndorf Inn where we had lunch

Figure 2: Taste of German Platter. Image taken on different day but same content.

Food food and seriously only food. We basically went there just for food. Yes! German sausages! We ate till we almost drop dead expect for one "girl". But it was good stuff as usual and it was even better when we got to pay like $30 less!

Mt Lofty
We wanted to admire the magnificent view from the summit with a cup of coffee (and Cheese Cake!) but unfortunately for us, the cafe at the summit was closing when we got there... >.<".

Ok, I'm feeling sleepy now... Need to go jogging tmr morning at 9am... ZZzzzz
